Gaeloideachas are hosting a free webinar this evening for parents with children who are starting in a naíonra for the first time. It will be facilitated through English.
📌 When: Dé Céadaoin, an 10 Meitheamh/June 2026, 19.00 go 19:45.
Tune in and listen to the guest speaker, Jane Ní Chonchúir, manager in Naíonra Lios na nÓg (Baile Átha Cliath), share information on the naíonra, how they work, common questions parents have and more. The guest speaker will speak in general terms about all naíonraí, and this seminar has no affiliation with any particular naíonra.

International Day of Play takes place annually on 11 June and serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting every child’s right to play. 🎒 Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance 2026
Did you know?
The Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance is now open, and for the first time, eligible children aged 2 and 3 are now included.
This year the payment is:
👟 €160 for eligible children aged 2 to 11
📚 €285 for eligible children aged 12 to 22
The scheme opened on 3 June 2026 and applications close on 30 September 2026. Many families will receive the payment automatically, but if you do not receive a notification and think you may qualify, you can apply through MyWelfare.

The move from preschool to primary school is one of the most significant milestones in a child’s early years, for children and parents alike.

Children don’t arrive at primary school as blank slates. They bring with them the learning, confidence, relationships and skills they’ve already developed through their Early Years experience. This transition is about building on those strong foundations, not starting from scratch.

Minister for Children, Disability and Equality, Norma Foley - TD today welcomed the publication of a new review which highlights the benefits of Government funding for parent and toddler groups.
The Parent and Toddler Group grants support weekly meet-ups for hundreds of parents, guardians, grandparents, childminders, and young children across the country.
In 2024, almost 400 parent and toddler groups received grants worth €912 on average to support their work.

Summer Stars, the free national reading programme for children developed by Libraries Ireland as part of the Right to Read initiative, runs throughout the summer months from June until the end of August. 📚☀️
