Safetalk for Younger People

Strengthening Families Programme
The Strengthening Families Programme (SFP) is a 14-session family skills training programme. The programme consists of 3 elements:
- Parent Skills Training
- Teen Skills Training (12-16 years)
- Family Life Skills Training
Positive results from over 15 independent research replications demonstrate that the program is robust and effective in increasing assets and protective factors by improving family relationships, parenting skills, and improving youth’s social and life skills.

Killorglin Neighbourhood Youth Project
The Neighbourhood Youth Project (N.Y.P) is a community based service providing one-to-one work and family support to referred young people aged 12-18 years and their families in the Mid-Kerry area.

Parents Plus Adolescents/Teenagers Programme
This programme is for parents with teenagers between 13 – 18 years old. It considers how parents can connect and build good relationships with their teenage children while also being firm and influential in their lives. Parents will receive support on handling conflict, solving problems and getting on better with their teenage children. Topics include:
- Getting to know and connecting with your teenager
- Communicating positively and effectively
- Building your teenager’s self-esteem and confidence
- Negotiating rules and boundaries
- Teaching teenagers responsibility
- Positive discipline for teenagers
- Managing conflict
- Solving problems together
